My recent note from “Imperial Swing Dancing” author Skip Culver sparked my curiosity… how many dancers out there might like to learn this fun, improvisational style unique dance form?
Skip tells me that unlike other swing styles that emphasize disciplined body movements, Imperial Swing tends to emphasize moves because it began as an unpolished street dance.
What does that mean? With “Imperial,” you’re learning universal dance moves that you may use with all of the other dance styles – talk about putting versatility into your dancing!
Skip talks about Imperial Swing as a fun, dancer’s delight, with all of its wraps, whips, dips, turns, and new and different partner moves. If one dancer shows off his new "tunnel entry" to another dancer, for example, then that other dancer may dazzle his friend with a "double tunnel" entry.
Are you a “Closet Imperialist?” Do spontaneous moves with names like “Crazy Arms” sound like your idea fun on the dance floor? Would you like your Dance Muse to share more info with you about Imperial Swing? Skip’s got lots more to tell!

I received this response from the gentleman who wrote his authoritative book on "Imperial Swing" mentioned in my article (click the DANCE CAMPS tab above to read it)...I want to share Skip's comments:
Dear Pat,
Bud Waters sent me your great article posted on the saveondancewear website about various dance camps that are being conducted around the country this summer. I was awed by your article's comprehensiveness and I want to thank you for mentioning Imperial Swing Dancing. Although my manuals are within a couple hundred copies of being sold out, when they are finally gone later this year, I still plan to continue traveling around the country to the various dance parties (camps) and renewing the great friendships that I have made.
Thanks again for your consideration,
Skip Culver

Hi,
I bought shoes here a few times, but recently got a dance dress too. There really aren't a lot of places to buy ballroom dance items, and I love the dress, and the price was great too. Congratulations on a great company. I'm local, in San Diego, don't compete but take dance lessons in Hillcrest and love to dance. Do you teach or compete anywhere? Jan

Wow, it's been over a year. This is Fern, and what a delight this dance site has become. I always wanted to start my own business, and everyone said that it has to do with something you love. Dance has always been the strongest positive influence in my life, so we started last July with 5 pairs of dance shoes and a couple of dance wear outfits that I made myself. Needless to say, the dance outfits sat... but the dance shoe demand grew immediately. We now have hundreds of shoes to sell, and are still growing our dance wear. But the greatest satisfaction is hearing from the dancers and dancers friends and family who contact me. Nothing is better than that.
I've also been told that a blog is good for business, to keep everyone updated, so I'm going to try to write here on the site as often as possible, since we are changing and growing so fast. Please check out our new inventory that we're going to continue to have. And most of all, please drop me a line on this blog. Nothing would make me happier.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. Hope it's the best ever!
Fern

I wanted to start this blog to create a place for people to come and share in the joys of dancing. Feel free to talk about the dance industry, competitions and the up and coming dance stars or anything about dance products that you love or hate. Salsa and ballroom dancing have made such a positive impact in my life, no matter what’s going on, no matter what problems or struggles are going on in my life, dance takes all the issues away. While you’re dancing, nothing else exists except you, your partner, the music in the background, and the joy you are experiencing. The best part of all and the reason I got into this business 25 years ago, is seeing the joy that dance brings to others and feeling it yourself. Seeing the smiles when people get taken away from their daily lives and watching them have so much fun is an experience in itself. I don’t believe there is anything better. I would love to hear anyone’s experiences and comments about the joys of salsa dancing and ballroom dancing.

Thanks again for your consideration,
Skip Culver

Mens ballroom dance shirts; we'll see how it goes. We've had a lot of requests... If there's something you'd like us to have, or want to say please write . WOULD LOVE to hear from you. I get emails all day long, and would love to see someone on our blog. Enjoy dancing; nothing in the world like it! Fern

We need to hear from you about a new great dance shoe, dance dress you loved while dancing, local dance competitions, dance camps or any dance showcase you attend. Please write; we'd all love to hear.

Hi,
I bought shoes here a few times, but recently got a dance dress too.

Fern

I've been ballroom dancing for 4 years now...love it! Just wish that I had started earlier. I dance/take lessons 4 day a week and feel like I can dance every day!
